Milan: A new restaurant in the Baltimore’s harbour east community
By Greg B. So while this is not a review of a new restaurant, this is our first salvo of posts about this relatively new restaurant, ‘Milan‘. Hopefully in the near future I’ll have a chance to review the restaurant, but for now, I’ll be able to list their happy hour specials, and to raise some awareness that the restaurant/lounge exists!
Milan seems to be going into Pazo’s territory, as a small plate restaurant that also functions as a late night lounge. With two of these establishments so close in proximity, it’ll be interesting to see if Baltimore’s community can sustain two, and if not, which restaurant will eventually win out! But Milan does have some great sounding happy hour specials, which I’ll identify here.
Beverage Specials (5-7pm, monday through friday)
- $3 Domestic beers
- $4 Select Red/White wines
- $5 mixed cocktails
- $6 Fashion martinis… a different recipe daily selected by the staff
Food Specials $2.50 discount off all
- Flat Breads
- Small Plates
- Bruschettas
From their press release:
Milan’s small plates include Ortaggio Mondeghili, mixed veggie meatballs, fresh herbs and Milan’s pomodoro sauce; Agnello, grilled marinated lamb “lollipops” with lemon rosemary aioli; and Kalamariakia, flash fried calamari, Italian cherry peppers, and house made sweet & spicy marinara sauce. A variety of flatbreads offered at Milan include Margherita, fresh oregano, tomato confit, fresh mozzarella and torn basil; Seccato Dal Sole Pomodoro, grilled chicken, sundried tomato, caramelized onions, fresh mozzarella and parmesan cheese; and Fra Diavalo, crumbled roma sausage, imported pepperoni, Italian cherry peppers and ricotta salata. The bruschetta selections include Salmone Affumicato Bruschetta, fresh dill, capers, house smoked salmon and chive crème fraiche and Filetto Bruschetta, blue cheese, grilled filet mignon, fresh arugula, and smoked tomato demi glace.
At 12,000 square feet, this new restaurant seems to have ample space to entertain people for both food and lounging. The restaurant already exists as a 3-leveled restaurant, with the lower portion open as a cafe from 11am-2am. I’ll be interested to see how it turns out and evolves over it’s first year in business!
