(BALTIMORE, June 17, 2009) – Morton’s The Steakhouse announces a partnership with Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity, and locally, with the Maryland Food Bank, in conjunction with the release of the new “Morton’s The Cookbook: 100 Steakhouse Recipes for Every Kitchen” written by Klaus Fritsch, Morton’s co-founder, along with Tylor Field III, Morton’s Vice President of Wine and Spirits, and Mary Goodbody, nationally known food writer and cookbook editor.
To launch the new cookbook, Morton’s in Baltimore is hosting special fundraising reception with Morton’s co-founder Klaus Fritsch and co-author of “Morton’s The Cookbook” on Wednesday, July 15, from 6 – 7:30 p.m. The event includes a sampling of recipes from the cookbook paired with a selection of fine wine and cocktails. Cost to attend is $59 per person, inclusive of tax and gratuity, which includes a copy of “Morton’s The Cookbook” and donation to the Feeding America. In honor of Baltimore Ravens Center Matt Birk’s Two-Fisted Bacon Cheeseburger recipe featured in the cookbook, the first 10 guests to reserve a spot will receive a copy of “Morton’s The Cookbook” signed by Birk.
In addition, auctions with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the Maryland Food Bank include such items as a Morton’s Chef Table, personal multi-course wine dinner for 6 guests; an autographed DVD of “Scream” signed by David Arquette and Courtney Cox; and a 3-liter bottle of wine provided by Chateau St Michelle. In Baltimore, guests can also bid on a three month complimentary membership and three 30 minute personal training sessions at Maryland Athletic Club’s Harbor East location.
“Morton’s is really stepping up to the plate with this event,” comments Deborah Flateman, CEO of the Maryland Food Bank. “In order for us to accomplish our mission and effectively end hunger in Maryland, we need support from our corporate neighbors with events that raise funds for our organization. Morton’s has done that with this event.”
