Happy Mother’s Day to all the mom’s out there….especially the best one in the world…MINE!
Mother’s Day is one of those hallmark holidays that I actually think is great (as opposed to Valentine’s day, Sweetest day, etc). A day in which we remind our moms that we love them and appreciate all of their sacrifices and nurturing they provided us through the years. Regardless of your relationship with your mom, you have to at the very least be thankful that she went through pregnancy and labor to give you life!
I was lucky enough to have two outstanding parents through childhood who supported me in everything I have ever done (and still do). But since it’s Mother’s Day, I’ll just tell you about how great of a woman my mom is (sorry Baba, you’ll have to wait a month for your post!). I always considered my mom a friend of mine as far back as I can remember (this is also true of my father). She bailed me out of trouble when I was younger (and jail but we won’t get into that
), worked multiple jobs to help my father support us kids, and taught me that win or lose, succeed or fail, I would always have her love and support. She was my biggest fan, be it at sports or in the classroom, and she never lost hope in me as I finished high school, graduated college, or now, as I’m finishing up my PhD. All the while, she raised a beautiful daughter (my sister who is a mother now too!), another very special and beautiful son (my brother Jamie), and even kept my father in line from time to time! Even more amazing, she is a two time survivor of breast cancer and one of the strongest people I have ever met in my life.
And while her wine of choice might be a white Zinfandel (I’ve got her liking Riesling now too!), she still really is the best mom anyone could as for.
So on this Mother’s Day, I would like to give a special “I love you” to my mother, Brigitte Mohammadi! You really are the best in the world- thank you from the bottom of my heart. I wish I could be there with you today…maybe next year when I’m done with my PhD!!!
Oh and Mama…I bought you a gift but it’s at Birch’s!!!
To all the other Mom’s out there (including my sister and especially Kim’s, Gabi’s and Greg’s mom!) I wish you the best on this Mother’s Day! Hopefully you’ll open a nice bottle of wine, have a good dinner with your kids and enjoy the best things in life!
