Marylanders: Get to work this weekend- Support the Maryland Direct Shipping Bill by Signing a Petition!!
Alright, this takes only a moment to do but if enough of us make our voice heard, we might be able to overcome the wholesalers lobbying. Be sure to tell everyone you know to sign up!
The MD House Alcohol Sub-Committee is meeting on Monday at 3PM to
deliberate the direct wine shipping bill, AND WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Please complete the online petition by clicking on the following link:

This will send an email to all of the sub-committee members, and they
will hopefully will be overwhelmed by Marylanders when they come in on
Monday.
Thanks for your help!

It may be worth noting that people can contact their elected officials directly, as well, when/if the bill goes to the floor of the house (or even before, see below).
One way to find out who they are is http://mdelect.net/electedofficials/.
To paraphrase Nancy Kopp, Maryland state treasurer; This is not capital hill. If more than six people contact their legislator about something besides abortion or gun rights, there is a good chance they will do something about it. (As for committee, they all know each other).
In my opinion this bill has a good chance of getting to the floor, as pretty much anything that does not cost the state any money, or even raises money for the state {you might want to spin it that way for your rep.} is politically viable right now.
Also, if you want to read the bill, it is available here:

Over half of the state delegates and nearly half of the state senators SPONSORED this bill. The Senate sumcommittee on Alcoholic Beverages is clearly in the back pocked of the liquor distributors if this bill doesn’t get out of committee!
Thanks for the info “A concerned citizen”- but we all know that the distributors pump A LOT of money into the campaigns of the committee members…sad..but true.
I don’t think it will get out of committee…but I guess there is a light now at the end of the tunnel!
