Belgian Beer Fest at Max’s on Broadway
By Greg B. This happens every year, and, because it is the best celebration of Belgian beer of it’s kind, I think it needs to be posted on this website in advance, to encourage all you beer drinkers (and even wine drinkers who are curious about beer) to attend and enjoy. It is a fantastic chance to try a lot of beer, both in bottle or on tap, that you may not have ever heard of, let alone can find on tap.
I’m not going to list everything, but this link has the beers they will be featuring. I can say that I am all about the Belgian dark ales, and will be very pleased to get the chance to try a number of them.
However, this is just a quick post to give you all a heads up as to what you should be doing this weekend, at some point, even if it’s just dropping in for a beer. Belgian beer is some of the best beer for you, and is some of the better beers on the planet. All of these beers are made from a tradition of experimentation and creativity and it would be a shame to pass up the opportunity to try some of these, an opportunity that comes only once a year!
Starting today, just before noon, Belgian fest 2009 begins and runs until Sunday afternoon/evening. Enjoy!

I can’t make it this weekend…so I expect a GREAT review next week
PS- Baltimore Sun is reporting that Max’s has been packed since they opened this morning!
Yeah, Max’s was crowded, but not 100% packed when I got there, around 9:30ish. I had some top notch beers, though, Petrus Winter, Witkap pater dubbel, st. feuillien printemps, lefebvre barbar, and dupont avec els bons voeux….. reviews to follow, of course!
Oh, and I tried the cantillion iris too, but, much like the Flemish Red’s I’ve had, I think this is certainly an acquired taste.
