Food, Wine, Culture TV - Episode 7: Blind Prosciutto Tasting and Italian White Wines
August 26, 2008 by michael
No news show this week! It was lost in the taping some how…so here’s an early Episode 7! (main page image: wikipedia.com wiki commons)
Episode 7: In what Michael refers to as episode 8, is really episode 7 (an episode was lost to the MiniDV Tape Gods!). Today we’re blind tasting three prosciuttos, and then tasting three Italian white wines. Join Michael to find out your best value Prosciutto and what wines to pair with it! Tune in to the next episode when we bring the wines back and pair it with two perfect seafood dishes!
Wines tasted:
2007 Banfi “Le Rime” (Chardonnay/Pinot Grigio): 79 pts, PV
2006 Allegrini Soave: 85 pts, GV
2006 “Pra” Soave Classico: 88 pts, GV

weggies rocks!
Gabi and I both agree, we love the moment you drop the proscuitto on the floor, because you sit there and hesitate, just for a second, thinking about whether or not to eat it.
Donna: We’re long overdue on a field trip to Wegman’s!
Greg: I would have eaten it…but I saw a mound of dog hair on it so I had to pass!
What wine goes with Husky hair? Vodka perhaps!
Parma is a city not a region and not so much in Tuscany! However, if you’re american Parma and Florence are nextdoor neighbours! I mean neighbors of course!
Nice to see you going Italian though and Soave does rock the house. Banfi Prosecco - best left on the shelf!
Look forward to seeing your next episodes and thanks for the editing/camera recs. Nice website.
Sarah: I mis-spoke on the city/region thing as I knew it was a city- while on camera sometimes I talk fast and say things before thinking! - thank you for setting me straight
Note to self: research these things first!
I will be doing a lot with Italian wines as I’m working as a wine consultant for a local Italian restaurant (and I love everything Italian!) and will incorporate my tastings there in with the show. Thanks for the kind words
