Tasting notes: 2005 Domaine D’Aupilhac (Coteaux du Languedoc)
If you’re planning on grilling a medium rare steak for dinner tonight, you may consider opening a bottle of this blend of Mourvedre , Carignan, Syrah, Grenache and Cin. The 2005 Domaine D’Aupilhac comes to us from the northern edge of the Languedoc-Roussillon region in southern France along the
Mediterranean coast (outlined here in red; Image courtesy of wikipedia.org).
The wine is deep purple in the glass, offering a huge nose filled with blackberry, leather, and floral notes. It’s a medium sized wine on the palette. I tasted plum, black pepper, blackberry and a lot of wild game and earthiness on the finish. Pretty big wine that would hold up well with a steak. The wine is priced at $14, which makes it a great value wine.
